Oliveira da Invasão

Segundo o testemunho oral passado de geração em geração, o exército francês causou grande sofrimento à população da aldeia que, na sua maioria, se refugiou na serra. Uma mulher foi apanhada desprevenida, sendo por eles amarrada e maltratada nesta oliveira. Ela gritava e dava a entender a presença dos soldados. Ripostavam os franceses: “Ó Maria, anda que o inimigo já foi embora.” Os habitantes perceberam que era encenação devido à pronúncia francesa e não desceram da serra. Vendo que ninguém apareceu, o exército francês avançou em direção à serra de Santa Quitéria, destruindo tudo à sua passagem.

According to oral testimony passed down from generation to generation, the French army caused great suffering to the village population, most of whom took refuge in the mountains. One woman was caught off guard, tied up and mistreated by them in this olive tree. She screamed and revealed the soldiers' presence. The French replied: ‘Oh Maria, come on, the enemy is already gone.’ The inhabitants realised that it was a ploy due to the French accent and did not come down from the mountains. Seeing that no one appeared, the French army advanced towards the Santa Quitéria mountains, destroying everything in its path.
